Gamma Meccanica will be exhibiting its latest products at The Big 5 Construct East Africa in Kenya this November. We spoke to the Sales Manager, Daniele Pivetti; here's what he told us as he prepares to participate to the the official exhibition of Kenya's National Construction Week - The Big 5 Construct East Africa.
How do you find the construction market in Kenya right now?
Kenya is generally considered the economic, commercial, and logistics hub of East Africa and has a strong industrial base in the region. Kenya’s construction industry has been accelerating. The country has been successful in attracting private equity capital because of its a strategic location with comprehensive air routes, roads, railways and other infrastructure. Certainly it has its challenges, but also a good perspective of growth.
Why do you want to be a part of it?
We see important opportunities in the near future, for the insulation market in Kenya. Kenya’s economic growth is projected to grow further through the development and adoption of Kenya Vision 2030, which is the country’s new long-term development blueprint. It aims at transforming Kenya into “a newly industrialising, middle income country providing a high quality of life to all its citizens in a clean and secure environment”.
What are the top 3 trends in the industry according to you?
1. The rise in concern to prevent heat loss.
2. To save energy and acoustic insulation in construction.
3. Automotive and other industries is expected to drive the market growth for mineral wool.
What do these trends mean for your company?
Gamma Meccanica is attentive to environmental problems and to the development of technology respectful of the environment. One of the company's priorities has been the development of environmentally sustainable technologies. Gamma Meccanica produces both complete plants and individual machines for the production of mineral wools (such as stone wool and glass wool) that are world's most proven and widely used insulation materials.
What products will you present at The Big 5 Construct East Africa?
We will present our rock wool and glass wool production lines.
Mineral wool has a unique range of properties combining high thermal resistance with long-term stability. It is made from molten glass, stone or slag that is spun into a fibre-like structure which creates a combination of properties that no other insulation material can match. Namely the ability to save energy, minimise pollution, combat noise, reduce the risk of fire and protect life & property in the event of fire.
A complete production line consists in several machines that process the material, from melting to packaging.
The “hot” part is located at the beginning of the line where the machine melts the material stone and transforms it into fibre. The polymerisation and material processing stages follow, where the product takes on its final shape (panels, mattresses or felt).
The packaging system is located at the end of the line and consists in machines that package the product and prepare it for warehousing or shipment.
How will the exhibition help you to grow business in Kenya?
The exhibition is an important showcase for our company and we hope to establish important contacts with local producers.
