60 seconds with Rishit Dalal, Director - Projects & International Business

Jaycee will be exhibiting its latest products at The Big 5 Construct East Africa in Kenya next November. We spoke to the Director-Projects & International Business, Rishit Dalal; here's what he told us as he prepares to participate to the the official exhibition of Kenya's National Construction Week - The Big 5 Construct East Africa.

How do you find the construction market in Kenya right now?

Kenya’s construction industry has been accelerating at a rapid pace and making a substantial contribution to the country’s strong GDP growth figures on the back of major public works projects and rising demand for mixed-use and residential developments. The SGR project has transformed transportation of people and goods, whereas upcoming infrastructure projects will alleviate most major bottlenecks in the country. This is a very exciting time for the construction industry in Kenya, the vision and fast-track execution by the government is commendable.

Why do you want to be a part of this construction market?

We are already contributing to the construction industry in Kenya, and increasing our market penetration systematically. We produce and supply high quality, sustainable construction materials such as Fly Ash and offer technical solutions to optimise cost of construction for projects. Our mission is to enable durable, sustainable construction with lower construction and life-cycle cost.

What are the top 3 trends in the industry according to you?

1. Large infrastructure projects such as railways, roads, dams, ports and airports to create a strong foundation to the economy
2.
Affordable housing projects to serve the growing needs of the population
3. New-age and sustainable construction that will enable fast-track execution, durable structures and reduce cost of construction

What do these trends mean for your company?

We are excited to be in a strong position to contribute significantly to the Kenya construction industry by way of offering sustainable construction materials backed by technical solutions to reduce cost of construction. We serve all segments right from infrastructure projects, real estate and affordable housing, and can help better construction at a lower cost.

What products will you present at The Big 5 Construct East Africa?

We will be presenting our flagship product "CEMGUARD FLY ASH" at the Big 5 Construct East Africa. CEMGUARD FLY ASH has been extensively used in the SGR Project in Kenya, and is being used by various other projects. It is a unique product that helps improve quality of construction, make structures more durable and reduce cost of construction at the same time CEMGUARD FLY ASH is also an eco-friendly material, enabling sustainable construction.

How will the exhibition help you to grow business in Kenya?

As the premier construction exhibition in the region, The Big 5 Construct East Africa will help us connect with key stakeholders in the market and expand our reach. It will also make the construction industry more aware of our products, its technical and economic advantages, and help us contribute to the industry in a more meaningful way.
